Looks like Sunderland will play in the English Premier League next season. Playing attacking football under the guidance of manager, former Manchester United captain Roy Keane, Sunderland defeated Burnley in a 5-goal thriller, 3-2.
In a fiercely contested match, Sunderland showed character, desire, determination and tremendous footballing skills. All these things are quite pivotal especially in EPL where you face the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. Earlier, after taking the lead in the opening minutes of the match, Sunderland looked set to thump Burnley with a huge margin.
But Burnley shocked 45,000 fans in the Stadium of Light by leveling the scoreline and later on taking the lead in the second half. Sunderland had a good chance to level the scoreline but they missed a straightforward penalty.
Brilliant late goal from Carlos Edwards in the 80th minute of the match sealed the much-needed victory for Sunderland. I have no doubt in my mind that under Roy Keane, Sunderland can give headache to big teams in the EPL next season because not only he is a master tactician but also knows how to get results against big sides.
